FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. -

Cumberland County detectives have obtained additional warrants for a registered sex offender accused of attacking a woman and biting off her ear while her two children looked on.

The suspect is identified as Luther Paul Whittington, Jr., 31, of Fayetteville. He is wanted on charges of maiming, first degree burglary and assault on a female.

Deputies said Whittington broke through a window in his girlfriend's living room while her two young daughters were with her. They tried to hide in a bathroom, but deputies say Whittington found them and beat the woman in front of her children.

Whittington is wanted on charges of maiming, first degree burglary, assault on a female, assault on a child, and assault inflicting serious injury in the presence of a minor.

Whittington is 5 feet 10 inches tall and weighs 145 pounds. He has a tattoo on his right arm with the name "TIKA" printed on it.

Deputies said he's believed to be driving a 1991 blue Honda Accord 4-door.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the Cumberland County Sheriff's Office at (910) 323-1500.
