Barbour County investigating two homicides

BARBOUR COUNTY, Ala. -

The Barbour County Sheriff's Department is investigating two homicides since Friday.

On Friday, 71-year-old Elizabeth Sanders was found dead inside her Farmer Road home after an apparent home invasion. Sanders died from a shotgun found to the chest, according to the Eufaula Tribune. Sheriff LeRoy Upshaw told the newspaper over $10,000 was taken from the home but an investigators News 3 spoke to by phone Tuesday could not confirm that. An arrest has not yet been made.

On Monday, authorities arrested 24-year-old Noah Bunnell. Authorities allege Bunnell killed is stepmother, Jacquelin Bunnell, and set her Highway 30 home on fire. Witnesses provided authorities with a description of Noah and a truck he was seen driving. The truck was found in Bullock County while Noah was located and arrested in Russell County. He is facing charges of capital murder, arson and burglary.

Both cases remain under investigation.
