RALEIGH, N.C. -

The benefit of being the first performer on this season's "The Voice" is that Raleigh's Kat Robichaud set the bar high for all of the performers who followed.

The downside to being the first performer is that her fans -- the so-called "KatPack" -- have had to wait three weeks and watch nearly 14 hours of Kat-free television before she hit the stage again.

Tonight, the wait paid off as Kat Robichaud (pronounced "row-bee-show") advanced to the Knockout Rounds, earning CeeLo's pick over R. Anthony. Kat squared off with Anthony in performing Aerosmith's "I Don't Want to Miss a Thing" for a chance to move forward in the singing competition.

After the performance, CeeLo praised the pair, saying they "both did an exceptional job." While the coach spoke of Anthony's precision, he called Kat a "dynamo" adding "I need a natural disaster like you, I need a storm like you."

With little hesitation, CeeLo declared, "The winner of this battle, for me, is Kat."

As her husband and mother watched from the audience, host Carson Daly raised Kat's arm in the arm, declaring her the winner.

"I'm just so freaking thankful to be here right now," she said in a post-performance interview. "There's just no other feeling like it.

"I'm just going to bring it. I'm going to be that dynamite, I'm going to be that tiger. I'm going to do this!"

During the Blind Auditions, Kat was a hot commodity that earned three chair turns and the praise of all four coaches. So she may lose the Battle, but she could quite possibly win the war.

Clad in black and white striped pants, and high-heel, platform shoes, Kat impressed the coaches in the Blind Auditions as she wailed, kicked and screamed her way through The Kiki Dee Band's "I've Got the Music in Me."

"You remind me of all of the greats," CeeLo said after the performance. "But so original, so new, so fresh, so raw. You more than entertained me -- you engulfed me, you set me on fire."

Adam Levine was the only one of the four coaches who didn't turn his chair. But it was easy to see that it was a decision he quickly regretted.

"For sure not what I was expecting, especially those sweet pants," Adam said of Kat, who he referred to as "Raspy McRasperson."

"You have a great voice, and I can't wait to see these guys battle over you because it's going to be fun to see the bloodshed."

That battle ended with Kat joining Team CeeLo as his critique, as well as an off-camera, off-color comment, caught the Raleigh performer's attention and earned him her adoration.

"CeeLo said that I had female balls, and I really appreciated that," Kat said. By that, Kat explained that CeeLo saw her as a "badass rock star."

"He appreciated who I was and what I was, and I appreciate that," Kat said.

Kat's appearance on "The Voice" is the culmination of 7 hard years touring in bands and a lifetime of music appreciation instilled by her father.

"My father raised me on Broadway musicals," Kat explained. "Annie, Oliver, Seven Brides for Seven Brothers, and then as I got older I found my way to Rocky Horror and rock operas like Hedwig and the Angry Inch."

She added, "I got really into the whole glam rock scene with David Bowie, Queen, Marilyn Manson -- so I just love that. And then my dad loves Janis Joplin, so I have a lot of influences with the soulful singing but also the theatrics and just the balls-out rock and rock."

Those theatrics are evident in Kat performances, which gives her the advantage of not only having a chair-turning voice, but a stage presence that has earned her that KatPack following.
