It's been more than a week since we've received rain here, but a front moving in on Thursday will bring our next opportunity, along with clouds and cooler temperatures for the upcoming weekend.
The front is producing widespread showers from the Great Lakes southwestward all the way into Texas today. Clouds have spread into western Alabama ahead of the boundary, which will make steady progress toward our area. Although the moisture supply with this system will dry out some before reaching to Columbus Thursday afternoon, we can expect scattered showers to develop with mostly light rainfall amounts.
Cooler air will move in behind the front, which will eventually stall in the Gulf of Mexico, possibly setting us up for more rain on Saturday with even more possible early next week.
Toward the end of next week, there are indications in the forecast models of a much cooler pattern taking shape which could take us into Halloween.
