MCSD to host parent mentor training sessions

COLUMBUS, Ga. -

The Muscogee County School District is hosting several parent mentor training sessions this fall.

The purpose of the meetings is to explain parents' rights regarding special education. Parents of a child who has been referred for special education services or a child who is already receiving those or related services have certain rights which are protected by state and/or federal law.

The presentations will include a video that explains parents' rights.

Below are the times and places for the sessions:

Eddy Middle School

Oct. 22

9 a.m.-10 a.m.

 

Columbus Public Library

Oct. 30

11 a.m.-12:30 p.m.

 

North Columbus Library

Nov. 7

12:30 p.m.-1:30 p.m.

 

Mildred L. Terry Library

Nov. 18

11 a.m.-12:30 p.m.

It is being presented by Muscogee County School District Parent Mentors Lakisha Smith and Vernita Harris.
