Jimmy Fallon visits WFLA studio

Posted: Updated:
TAMPA, FL (WFLA) - The host of "Late Night with Jimmy Fallon" stopped by the WFLA newsroom and studio on Wednesday ahead of a comedy show at the Tampa Theatre.

Jimmy Fallon taped promos with anchors Keith Cate and Gayle Sierens, letting viewers know he will be taking over the "Tonight Show" from current host Jay Leno on February 17th.

Fallon also wrote a very kind Thank You Note to Tampa Bay, for being a region warm and friendly enough that he feels comfortable "showing off [his] speedo".  He also stopped by Daytime to tape several segments slated to air on Monday, October 21.  Heads up:  those segments include critters.  You will want to watch.

On First at 4, Stacie Schaible had a live interview with Fallon, about topics ranging from new fatherhood (daughter Winnie Rose was born in July) to his new upcoming job at the "Tonight Show".  Fallon also rhapsodized about a Cuban sandwich brought to him by a web producer from the Columbia Restaurant.
You're welcome, Columbia!  #cubansandwich

The second segment of Schaible's interview moved to a green screen for a virtual tour of Tampa.  Stacie and Jimmy walked on the Bay area's sunny beaches, rode roller coasters at Busch Gardens, watched cigar being made in Ybor City, and even got caught up in the Gasparilla Pirate Festival.  Jimmy donned a pirate hat, some beads, and a crazy pirate voice for the last part of the tour.

Jimmy Fallon's show at the Tampa Theatre is part of his nationwide Clean Cut Comedy Tour.  He will be joined on stage by comedians Julian McCullough, Nate Bargatze, Nick Thune and Seth Herzog.  Tickets are, unfortunately, sold out, but if you already have a ticket, the show starts at 8.  Doors open at 7:00 p.m.
