STALEY, N.C. -

A Staley, N.C., man was charged last week with operating an illegal liquor still, deputies said Tuesday.

Derek Green, 36, of Staley, is charged with violating Alcohol Beverage Control laws, possessing and selling non-tax-paid alcoholic beverages, and possessing and selling alcoholic beverages without a permit.

Investigators with the Chatham County Sheriff's Office executed a search warrant on Green on Oct. 18, at which time deputies confiscated the still and arrested Green.

Green was released under a written promise to appear in Chatham County District Court on Nov. 6.
