Two Dawgs entering Georgia-Florida Hall of Fame

Posted: Updated:
Jacksonville, FL -

Former Georgia All-America linemen Peter Anderson and Matt Stinchcomb will be inducted into the Georgia-Florida Hall of Fame this week.

The annual ceremony is slated for Friday at noon in the West Club of EverBank Field in Jacksonville.

Anderson lettered for the Bulldogs from 1983 through 1985 and was a starter his final two seasons. Anderson starred as a center, but he had the distinction of playing every position on the offensive line. Nicknamed "the Bell Cow" by Coach Vince Dooley, Anderson made Georgia history when he became the first Dooley-coached player to be named a permanent captain at midseason (a tradition usually reserved for the end of the year). Anderson and the Bulldogs defeated the Gators in Jacksonville in 1983 and 1985.

Stinchcomb was a three-year starter and a four-year letterman for the Bulldogs from 1995 through 1998. A team captain his senior year, he twice earned All-America honors, started 32 consecutive games and was a finalist for the Rotary Lombardi Award that is given to the nation's top lineman. Stinchcomb also was a two-time Academic All-American, earned the NCAA Top Eight Award and was a member of the National and SEC Good Works Teams. Stinchcomb helped the Bulldogs win the 1997 game against Florida in Jacksonville.

Florida's inductees on Friday will be defensive end Jevon Kearse (1995-98) and tailback Lindy Infante (1960-62)

The Georgia-Florida Hall of Fame was created in 1995 to recognize the players, coaches and representatives of each school who have made their mark on the rivarly. Each year on the Friday before the game, two members from each school are inducted.
