Cary has lowest total crime rate in the US

Posted: Updated:
CARY, N.C. -

The Town of Cary has the lowest total crime rate in the country based on the FBI's annual Uniform Crime Report, town officials announced Tuesday.

The Town of Cary's Crime Analysis Unit reviewed the UCR and found that among cities with populations between 100,000-500,000, Cary's total crime rate is the lowest.

The ranking is compiled using the FBI's data for the total crime rate per 1,000 people.

Cary is no stranger to high rankings when it comes to low crime rates. The town consistently ranks as one of the safest both regionally and nationally. For 13 consecutive years, Cary has been the highest-ranked municipality in the state, according to the release.
