Comptroller's office visits utility district after employees placed on administrative leave

A representative from the State of Tennessee Comptroller's Office spent an entire week at the Chuckey and Cross Anchor Utility Districts in Greene County earlier this month, according to the utility districts' attorney Ed Kershaw.

Kershaw says the employee from the comptroller's office reviewed documents and interviewed several people during his time in Greeneville.

Leaders of the two local utilities previously said they wanted the state to take a closer look at a situation there.

Earlier this month, the board placed four employees on paid administrative leave: retired manager Shirley Collins, her husband inspector Willie Collins, their daughter acting manager Kandie Jennings and her husband license operator Bill Jennings.
