THEODORE, Alabama -

Mobile Police SWAT members captured a shooting suspect early Wednesday night on Carol Plantation Road in Theodore.

They arrested a 23-year-old, who they believe shot a person near Pearson Park Apartments around 2:30 p.m. Wednesday afternoon.

A witness, who wishes not to be identified, spoke to News 5 on scene.

"I heard the first shot so I turned and looked and slowed down. I thought it was kids, I thought there was no way this could be real. Then I heard the second shot. I was just about to her mailbox. That's when I stopped. I stopped in the middle of the road and that's when I looked and turn and saw him come off the porch and shoot the other guy in the face," she said.

She was on her way to Hankins Middle School to pickup her son when she stopped. She dialed 911 and waited with one of the victims until paramedics arrived. A 19-year-old was suffering from shots to the mouth and to his leg.

"He was moving, he was blinking. They said that whenever he got inside the ambulance that he was writing on a piece of paper," he said.

At the time class was still in session at nearby schools. With a shooter on the loose several campuses were placed on lockdown as a precaution.

"I was very scared I mean it's right here, my kids go to school right here, it's a very scary thought," said a parent.

Police say, in all, 2 people were shot. Both remain at USA Medical Center as of 9 p.m. in stable condition.

Police plan to make a second arrest in the case.
