One man arrested, one wanted for Auburn home burglary

Posted: Updated:
AUBURN, Ala. -

One man is under arrest and the other on the loose after a home burglary in Auburn.

Just after 9 a.m. police responded to a burglary in progress in the 200 Block of Lee Road 137. Suspects were seen carrying property from a residence, getting into a vehicle, and leaving the area.

After receiving a description of the vehicle, an Auburn officer in the area saw the vehicle still in the vicinity and attempted to initiate a traffic stop. The vehicle refused to stop and continued to travel along I-85 South into Tuskegee.

The suspect vehicle was eventually stopped in the area of Patrick Street in Tuskegee and one of the occupants, Shaheyne P. Thomas from Tuskegee, was taken into custody by Auburn Police. They arrested 19-year-old Thomas on felony warrants charging him with Burglary Third Degree, Theft of Property Second Degree and Probation Violation.

The second suspect fled on foot but has been identified as Daron C. Martin, age 22 from Tuskegee. He is wanted for Burglary and Theft.

Thomas was transported to the Lee County Jail where his bond was set for $8,000.

Anyone with information on the whereabouts of Martin is asked to call the Auburn Police Division at 334-821-3000 (or) 334-501-3140 or the Tip Line at 334-246-1391.
