MOUNT OLIVE, N.C. -

The Wayne County Sheriff's Office said two children were left in a house alone after apparently witnessing a double murder Tuesday in Mount Olive.

Deputies found Tyrone Beamon Jr., 27, and Shaundrea Milhouse, 21, around 3:30 p.m. at a home on Waller Road. A relative told WNCN their bloddied bodies were found in a bathtub.

Authorities said Beamon's family went to the home to check on him since they had not heard from him in a few days. A 3-year-old and a 1-year-old were also found unharmed at the home.

Authorities believe the two children witnessed the murder.

Maj. Thomas Effler with the Wayne County Sheriff's Office said law enforcement had an extensive conversation with the 3-year-old boy. Effler said that conversation is being deciphered.

Wayne County Sheriff Carey Winders said the fact that the children were left alive raises a lot of questions.

"(The children being left alive) means that person may have cared about these children. For some reason he didn't want to kill the children," Winders said.

Investigators said they have several persons of interest in the case but no suspects have been named.

The bodies were taken to the medical examiner's office for a scheduled autopsy Wednesday.

Anyone with information about the case is asked to call the Wayne County Sheriff's Office at 919-731-1481 or Wayne County Crime Stoppers at 919-735-2255.
