Greenville's Veterans Day celebration

Posted: Updated:
Veterans Day is a couple of days away and it's time to start making plans. The Marine Corps Band will be making an appearance in this year's Veterans Day parade and ceremony in Greenville.

The iconic 40-piece band, under high demand will perform in each of the events. The first starts at the parade starting at 9:30 a.m. at the Willis building.
Ron Cooper from the Marine Corps League said, "Having the Marine Corps Band come here this year will add something to this parade that's never been done before."
"The Marine Corps Band is a huge plus but we want people to come out to support the veterans. People need to understand that they don't have the life that they have today if it wasn't for the veterans that stood up and offered themselves up for us," said JH Rose JROTC instructor Robert Overby.
The parade will continue through downtown Greenville and end at the Town Commons. At 11:00 a.m. there will be several guests and a wreath laying ceremony.

The Pitt County Veterans Council, JH Rose HS JROTC and all major veteran organizations in Pitt County teamed up to host this event. Veterans Day is Monday, November 11th.
