Valley shooting investigation underway

VALLEY, Ala. -

Valley Police are investigating a fatal shooting. Officers were called to the Fairfax Community Sunday night about 11 p.m. The victim, Coutland Larae Harper, 43, had been shot one time and was at a home on Glass Road. Harper was transported to George H. Lanier Hospital by Valley Emergency Medical Services where he was pronounced dead. Harper's body will be taken to the Medical Examiner's Office in Montgomery for autopsy.

At this point in the investigation there are no named suspects and no known motivation for the shooting. Valley Police Detectives have interviewed several people who were present in the residence at the time of the shooting.
