Brookstone's Clark signs with Georgia Tech golf

COLUMBUS, Ga. -

Brookstone senior James Clark signed a national letter of intent to play college golf at Georgia Tech on Friday morning.

Clark, whose recruiting process began his sophomore year, committed to the Yellow Jackets in March.

"It feels great," he said after signing. "All I've got to worry about now is my school work. Before, I had to send emails, go on visits, and you still have to play well."

Brookstone has won three state titles since Clark began playing for the Cougars, and has won four straight dating back to the year before his freshman year. The low man for the Cougars last year, Clark is ranked 66th in the boys amateur rankings by Golfweek.

The potential to continue his career beyond college helped make his decision.

"They're (Georgia Tech) ranked number two this year, so their program is really, really solid," Clark said. "They put a lot of guys out on the Tour, the PGA Tour, so if I wanted to go that route, I have a good chance."

Clark says he'll go down the PGA road as far as it would take him.

"If not, I'll have a great degree from Tech."

He says he's not sure yet what his major will be.
