Crowds Pack Stores Ahead Of Black Friday

MOBILE, Alabama -

It's one of the most popular places during the holiday season, but already Bel Air mall is packed.

"I'd rather do it now and get it over with it gets a lot out of the way and less crowds. We were out shopping for Christmas dresses today," said Jamie Nonnemacher.

It's good news for retailers who are already offering lower prices and advertising discounts in store windows. Thanksgiving and Black Friday typically serve as the start of the holiday season.

This year, people aren't waiting around.

"Got our pictures taken with Santa today and we wanted to get in here and get out because I don't like to do crowds," said Toni Carroll.

The tree is up and so are the decorations inside Bel Air Mall. Toni Carroll has three young children and she's starting her shopping early this year.

"I do all of mine either before or I do it online. I never do it on Black Friday, ever. I've never been, I don't care to go it's just too crowded for me," she says.

It seems each year the holiday shopping starts a little sooner. People are ready to cash in on the early savings they find.

"Yeah, I'm getting an early start on Christmas and getting a few things here and there trying to get prepared before all of the crowds start rushing in you know," said Jonathan Rose.

"I've seen a lot of sale ads posted earlier and so maybe that'll help lower the crowds and everybody who's waiting around for Black Friday," said Malorie Rogers.
