Local military wife's running club gets some national attention

Posted: Updated:
A Camp Lejeune wife who started a club to help other military spouses is getting some national attention for her efforts.

This month, Stephanie Geraghty and her running club “Stroller Warrior” was featured on CBS's "Courage In Sports" special.

In 2010, Geraghty started "Stroller Warriors" to provide a healthy and active support group for military spouses. Now, the running club has 12 chapters and around 1,500 members in the United States and Japan.

Geraghty says the club is to help military spouses get fit, while finding support during deployments.

“I consider it a way of life. It’s a free club. It’s to help our military families live happier, healthier lives, primarily through fitness but we do a lot of other things as well like community outreach, the playgroups, building friendships, setting goals and working together to meet those goals,” said Geraghty.

Due to a weather delay in Sunday football the “Courage In Sports” Special didn’t air as scheduled, but will re-air on CBS Sports Network. For a television schedule click here.
