COLUMBUS, Ga. -

Shaw High School is excited to announce that it has been selected to participate in the Georgia Apply to College program, an annual event sponsored by Communities in Schools, the Georgia Department of Education, the Georgia Independent College Association, the Georgia Partnership for Excellence in Education, the Georgia Student Finance Commission, the Technical College System of Georgia, and the University System of Georgia.

Shaw High School's event will be held on Thursday, November 21, 2013 from 9:00 am until 3:00 pm in the Media Center. During the Georgia Apply to College event, seniors will receive hands-on assistance from volunteers, many of whom are from our Partners in Education and local colleges and universities, as they navigate the college application process. The goal is for each student to successfully complete at least one college admission application using the GAcollege411.org website.

GAcollege411 is Georgia's online resource providing lots of information for students as they plan, apply and pay for college. The site serves as a valuable resource for application and financial aid information for the public and private colleges or universities in Georgia. In addition, it provides a number of tools that students can utilize to do things such as track their progress through high school, take online test preparation courses, research high-demand careers, and develop an online portfolio and resume.
