Georgia unemployment rate dips again

Posted: Updated:
COLUMBUS, Ga. -

Georgia's unemployment rate dipped last month. New numbers out today from the Department of Labor show the statewide seasonally adjusted rate decreased to 8.1 percent. That's down two-tenths of a percentage point from September's rate of 8.3 percent. One year ago, the October rate was 8.8 percent. Because of the federal government shutdown, no states were allowed to publish state labor market data for September. State Labor Commissioner Mark Butler is encouraged by the improvement in the labor market during the interim. Butler points out the Georgia gained almost 30,000 jobs over the last two months and that the job creation is pretty much through all sectors.
