Posted: Updated:

St. Augustine, Fla. – Freshman Nicole Corcione was named to the 2013 Daktronics All-Southeast Region first team while Chelsea Person and Shelby Rolling picked up second team honors as the All-Southeast Region teams were released on Monday.

The 2013 Peach Belt Conference Freshman of the Year, Corcione made an immediate impact in her first season at Columbus State. The freshman from Candler, N.C., played in all 22 matches for the Lady Cougars, leading the team and ranking tied for third in the PBC with 10 goals.

She added four assists and finished tied for third in the league with 26 total points. The freshman had a four-game goal streak during the year.

In addition, Corcione stepped her game up in the NCAA Tournament helping on the lone goal in the first round against Clayton State while adding a goal against Wingate.

Corcione's 11 goals finished as the fifth-most ever by a Lady Cougar freshman.

The anchor of the Columbus State defense, Rolling didn't miss a step in 2013 after suffering a season ending injury last season. The sophomore and the CSU backline registered nine shutouts this year, the second best mark in the PBC, and limited teams to 1.16 goals per match.

Rolling added three goals and two assists this season on the way to being named a first team All-Conference player.

With the award, Rolling has been named to the Daktronics All-Southeast Region second team for the second consecutive season.

Person was a key component in the Columbus State offense this year as the redshirt sophomore scored nine goals in 22 matches. She added two assists and finished tied for 10th in the PBC with 18 points. The forward scored five game-winning goals including the game-winner versus Clayton State in the NCAA Tournament.

The Daktronics NCAA Division II All-Southeast Region Teams are voted on by the sports information directors of the Southeast Region. The region is comprised of the Conference Carolinas, the Peach Belt Conference, and the South Atlantic Conference.

Members of the first team are now eligible for Daktronics NCAA Division II All-America honors.

The team is sponsored by Daktronics, Inc., an acknowledged world leader in scoring, timing and programmable display systems for virtually every sport at every level of competition. The team is voted on by the NCAA Division II members of the College Sports Information Directors
