PHENIX CITY, Ala. -

Goodwill is opening a new retail store and donation center in Phenix City.  The nearly 16,000 square foot facility will offer new services and training programs through the Career Center.

The Phenix City store marks the 13th Goodwill store in the region, however, the organization also has 20 staffed donation centers located throughout west Georgia and east Alabama.  The store will sell gently used clothing and household goods.  Proceeds from the store will fund the free career services and job training at the Career Center.

The Grand Opening event will be held on December 4 at 10 a.m. and will feature special announcements from the Phenix City Mayor Eddie Lowe and Phenix City-Russell County Chamber President Vic Cross, as well as other elected officials and community leaders.

Visitors will have the opportunity to win a Kindle Fire and the first 200 guests will receive a free gift.  The Career Center will host a community resource fair featuring opportunities with the Russell County DHR, Chattahoochee Valley Community College, Russell County Health Department and more.

The 3,000 square foot Career Center will include two training rooms, two interview rooms, eight computer stations and printing, faxing, and scanning services.  The facility will also offer several job search resources including a job board listing available jobs in the community and classes teaching resume writing and interview skills.  Goodwill staff will be available at the Career Center daily to assist with the career services provided.
