Two charged with homicide in death of man dumped in Hoover

SHELBY COUNTY, AL - The body found in undeveloped Hoover earlier this week has been identified, and two men have been charged with his death.

The Hoover Police Department and the Calera Police Department identified the victim as 46-year-old James Edward Sherwood of Calera in a joint press release.

They say the man was fatally shot at a residence in Calera. The incident is still under investigation, but Jessy Charles Hoyt, 24, of Calera, and Russell Ray Thomas, 32, of Helena, were charged with homicide.

The men are each being held on $1 million bond in the Shelby County Jail.
