Three people on board a small plane en route from Virginia Beach to Birmingham were all able to walk away Thursday after the aircraft made an emergency landing in Trussville, Alabama. A spokesman for the Trussville Police Department said pilot Kent Ewing told them the plane had mechanical problems.
Ewing was able to bring the single engine aircraft down in a field on private property. The plane came to rest in some trees between a barn and utility lines. Ewing told police his son and a family friend were flying to Birmingham to spend the Thanksgiving Holiday with family when they ran into trouble. The FAA is investigating the incident.
