Callaway rolls over St. Pius for spot in semifinals

LaGRANGE, Ga. -

The Callaway Cavaliers were in control from the first whistle to the last, knocking off the defending GHSA AAA state runners-up St. Pius, 35-21, Friday night.

The win sets a new record for Callaway wins in a season with 12. The team set the old record last week with 11.

Up 7-3 in the second quarter, Tez Parks gave it to Eddie Culpepper on an option, who took it 58 yards down to the St. Pius five. Two plays later, Culpepper banged his way in to make it 14-3.

Callaway would lead 14-6 at halftime.

The Cavaliers will now face defending state champion Buford in the semifinals. Buford knocked off Carver, 36-6, Friday night.

A coin flip will determine who has home-field advantage, as both teams are region champions.
