Man accused of firing at vehicle with child inside

Posted: Updated:
RAEFORD, N.C - Authorities accuse a 22-year-old man of shooting multiple times into a vehicle whose passengers included his 2-year-old child.

The Hoke County Sheriff's Office says Joshua Buie of Red Springs is charged with three counts of discharging a weapon into an occupied vehicle, assault with a deadly weapon and child abuse. No injuries were reported.

Sheriff Hubert Peterkin says Buie followed the 21-year-old mother of his child from a gas station and tried to get her to stop her vehicle. Buie's accused of firing several times after pulling along beside her outside of Raeford. He was arrested at his mother's house after the shooting.

Investigators say three other women were in the car about 6 p.m. Thursday.

It was not immediately clear if Buie had an attorney.
