Memorial for slain country singer to be held in Ala.

A memorial service for the country singer-songwriter killed at a downtown Nashville bar last weekend will be held on Sunday.

The service for Wayne Mills will be at Arab High School's auditorium in the late performer's hometown of Arab, Alabama about 140 miles away from Nashville.

Visitation will be held from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. with a memorial service scheduled for 1:30 p.m.

A private burial will follow the service.

Mills was gunned down around 5 a.m. at the Pit and Barrel bar located at 515 2nd Avenue near Lea Street on November 23.

The preliminary investigation revealed Mills was smoking a cigarette in a non-smoking area of the bar, upsetting the bar's owner, Chris Ferrell.

Ferrell and Mills allegedly began to argue prior to the shooting.

Ferrell, who has a valid handgun carry permit, told police he shot Mills in self defense.

Mills leaves behind a wife and young son.
