Georgia and Alabama see uptick in flu diagnoses

Posted: Updated:
Flu season is approaching its peak months and still a lot of people have not been vaccinated. Health experts say, don't delay. Get vaccinated. Why? Because as we've seen in the past few years, flu can make you very sick and in some cases, can kill.

It's called Flu View, a weekly update on the flu season from the Centers for Disease Control, the organization that monitors illnesses and diseases in this country. It looks at trends on flu outbreaks though the flu season.

This week, authorities have noticed a slight uptick in the number of cases, most of which have been diagnosed in the southern part of the country, including Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina and Tennessee.

And although there's no sign of a major outbreak at this time, that doesn't mean you shouldn't get vaccinated.

This year, the CDC is recommending that anyone six months and older get inoculated.

Because study after study has shown the best way to fight the flu is to get the shot.
