Auburn High falls in title game

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. -

The Auburn Tigers struggled to find consistency on offense and fell to the Hoover Buccaneers, 20-3, in the AHSAA 6A state championship game.

The game was closer than the final score indicated. Hoover led 7-0 at halftime, thanks to a first-quarter blocked punt that was recovered in the end zone.

Sage Ledbetter got the Tigers on the board in the third quarter, but Hoover's Bradrick Shaw took a shovel pass 35 yards to the end zone to stretch the lead.

Auburn was making its first appearance in the state title game in school history.
