COLUMBUS, Ga. -

During the month of November, several homeowners faced burglaries on the north end of Columbus ranging from Green Island Hills, Adams Park, Brookstone, and Garrett Pines.
On December 1st, 2013 patrol followed up on a lead regarding suspects in possession of possible stolen property on the South-end of Columbus. Police have identified 45 year old Derrick Johnson as a suspect in 8 residential burglaries/criminal attempt burglaries in the North Columbus area. All items recovered have already been matched and identified to victim's of the burglaries and returned to the owners.

An additional three theft by deception charges were also prosecuted against the suspect in this case by Detective Len Wills. Due to the diligence and perseverance of the Burglary & Theft Unit and patrol officers that responded to the initial lead, the suspect was successfully identified and many stolen items were retrieved and returned to the owners.
