Woman arrested after Opelika police find $55,000 of marijuana

A woman has been arrested after Opelika Police say they found about 6 pounds of marijuana.

27 year old tiffany Maddox of Opelika is charged with drug trafficking.

According to a news release, "On 12/12/2013, at approximately 5:05 pm, investigators of the Opelika Police Department Vice & Narcotics Unit served a search warrant in the 1100 block of Staley Avenue in Opelika.

At the time of the search warrant only one individual was located inside of the residence. During the search a large quantity of marijuana and currency were recovered from the residence. With information gained during the service of the search warrant an additional search warrant was issued and more marijuana was recovered from a storage unit.

Officers located approximately six pounds of marijuana with a street value of approximately $55,000.00. Investigators recovered approximately $40,000.00 in currency."

Police say more arrests are pending.

    An Amber Alert has been canceled after 2-year old Maliah Harris was found safe in Georgia. Her 7-month-old sibling, Alyssa, was found dead and Maliah disappeared from a Mississippi home which prompted authorities to issue the alert. The girls parents, Donald Boyd Harris,34, and Allison Studdard, 31, are now in custody.
