AUBURN, Ala. -
The SEC champion Auburn Tigers returned to the practice field Monday after a week of final exams, focusing for the next week on daily practices preparing for their BCS National Championship matchup with No. 1 Florida State January 6 at the Rose Bowl in Pasadena, Calif. Auburn held a two-hour workout in full pads Monday afternoon at the Auburn Athletics Complex.
“It was good to get back on the practice field,” Coach Gus Malzahn said afterward. “Our guys are excited. We focused a lot on the younger guys, which is good. They were flying around and having fun.”
Malzahn, who was named the national Eddie Robinson Coach of the Year earlier in the day by the Football Writers Association of America, is appreciative of the many honors he and the Tigers are receiving.
“It’s a true blessing, and a tribute to our assistant coaches and to our players. When you win, you get awards, and that’s a team effort.”
The 12-1 Tigers will practice again Tuesday afternoon.
