Woman medevaced from cruise ship east of Ocracoke

PORTSMOUTH, Va. - An 87 year old woman had to be medevaced from a cruise ship east of Ocracoke.

It happened Monday just before noon.

The Coast Guard got the call from personnel aboard the 1,068-foot cruise ship Norwegian Breakaway that the woman was in medical distress.

Watchstanders launched a MH-60 Jayhawk helicopter crew and flight surgeon from Coast Guard Air Station Elizabeth City, N.C.

The woman was hoisted aboard and transferred to Vidant Medical Center in Greenville. She was last listed in stable condition.
