Numbers drawn for $636M Mega Millions jackpot - WRBL

Columbus Winn-Dixie sells $1 million Mega Millions ticket

COLUMBUS, Ga. -

A $1 million winning Mega Millions tickets was sold in Columbus.

Reginald McCoy has claimed the ticket that was sold at the Winn-Dixie on Hunt Avenue in South Columbus, according to a Georgia Lottery spokesperson in Atlanta.

McCoy matched the five main numbers drawn, but did not get the correct Mega Ball number.

There were two winners for the $636 million Mega Millions jackpot.

Officials say one of the winning tickets was sold near Lenox mall in Atlanta's Buckhead neighborhood to a woman identified as Ira Curry.

The other winning ticket was sold in San Jose, Cali. That winner's identity has not yet been released.

The winning numbers on Tuesday night were: 8, 14, 17, 20, 39; Mega Ball: 7.

It's the second-largest lottery jackpot in U.S. history.

The Mega Millions jackpot has been growing for weeks because of a game revamp that dramatically lowered the odds of winning the top prize to about 1 in 259 million.

It used to be about 1 in 176 million, nearly the same odds of winning a Powerball jackpot.
