Federal extended unemployment benefits end in Georgia

Posted: Updated:
Emergency Unemployment Compensation (EUC) benefits for the nation's long-term unemployed workers are set to end Saturday, Dec. 28 in Georgia.  That is going to impact almost 40,000 workers in the state according to the Georgia Department of Labor.

EUC is a federally funded benefit for long-term unemployed workers who have exhausted regular state unemployment insurance benefits.  If legislation is passed to extend the EUC program, the Georgia Department of Labor will inform affected workers by an announcement on the department's website at www.employgeorgia.com and the department's interactive voice response system.
