AUBURN, Ala. -

Auburn police have made an arrest in a case of forgery.

On Thursday police arrested John W. Pendleton, 32, from Opelika on a felony warrant for Possession of a Forged Instrument and an unrelated charge of Public Intoxication.

The arrest comes after a bank on Bent Creek Road reported the forgery. Police were given a description of a suspect leaving the bank after attempting to cash a forged check, and Pendleton was located in the parking lot.

He was initially taken into custody for Public Intoxication, and later identified as being responsible for presenting the forged check. Pendleton was transported to the Lee County Jail where his bond was set at $3,500.
