Lee County investigators make marijuana bust at restaurant

PHENIX CITY, Ala. -

A Phenix City man is behind bars after a drug bust at a restaurant.

Lee County Sheriff's investigators arrested 38-year-old George Maximo James Friday at the Cookout Barbecue & More restaurant where he worked. Investigators found marijuana at the business that was packaged for sale along with scales and other contraband.

The arrest came after authorities received a tip about drugs being sold to juveniles from the restaurant. Undercover officers were then able to purchase marijuana from James.

James also had two outstanding warrants from Russell County and is being held without bond at the Lee County Detention Center.
