Vince Dooley says Georgia football is in good hands

Posted: Updated:
PINE MOUNTAIN, Ga. - Vince Dooley was at Callaway gardens Saturday signing copies of his books.

There is a new chapter in ‘Dooley’s Playbook’ about Columbus' own Jarvis Jones. Dooley says that Jarvis left his stamp in Georgia history and that he is one of the best to ever put on the red and black.

“He loves the game,” Dooley said. “He is tremendous competitor. I think he has a deep appreciation for the University of Georgia. I was proud to put him in the playbook. That is the first edition of that playbook since Matthew Stafford hit Mikey Henderson in the end zone against Alabama several years ago.”

He says the program is in great shape with Mark Richt at the helm.

“I think it is right there competing at the top every year,” said Dooley. “Last year, it was right there at the top competing for a national championship. This year was a little disappointing because of injuries. You never know when that is going to happen. I've never seen so many injuries on one side of the ball which was our strength: the offense. When we got them back, we were another great team.”
