Auburn man arrested for aggravated child abuse

Posted: Updated:
Auburn police have arrested 28-year old Benjamin Rollins of Auburn and charged him with aggravated child abuse.  Rollins was arrested on December 20 in connection with the alleged abuse of an infant child.

The child was brought to the East Alabama Medical Center from a home in the 300 block of Webster Road in Auburn.  While being treated for a medical condition, the child was discovered to have injuries unrelated to the reason it was brought to the hospital.  The child was transferred to UAB Children's Hospital in Birmingham.  It has since been released from the hospital and is in foster care.

An investigation into the injuries was launched by the Auburn Police Division and the Lee County Department of Human Resources.  As a result of the investigation a felony warrant was served on Rollins.  He was taken to the Lee County Jail where bond was set at $10,000.
