Swarm of biting fish attack beach goers on Christmas Day

Posted: Updated:
ARGENTINA - Christmas Day on a popular beach in Argentina turned terrifying after a swarm of biting fish attacked people in the water.

More than 70 people were injured; one of them was a 7-yr.-old girl who had her finger partially amputated.

The fish, called palometas, are a relative of the piranha.

This happened just after 11 a.m. on a packed beach less than 200 miles north of Buenos Aires.

Many people were there trying to cool off during a heat wave over the holiday.
