Lanett Police: fake checks being sent in the mail

Posted: Updated:

The Lanett Police Department is warning residents of fake checks they get in the mail.

Police say letters are being sent with a check for a large amount of money.

The person is to cash it and then return a specific amount to the sender.

Police say the checks are phony and if you get one you should destroy it or give them to authorities.
