DURHAM, N.C. -

Deputies are actively searching for a suspect charged in connection with a murder in Durham on Dec. 11, 2013.

Alex Lainez, 33, is charged with first degree murder in the death of Saul Botello Abrimz. Durham County Sheriff's deputies are working to locate and arrest him.

The sheriff's office said Abrimz, 31, was found shot to death Dec. 11 at his home at 212 Andrews Chapel Road. Investigators said the homicide was likely drug related.

The sheriff's office previously identified Lainez as Alex Antonio Cruz Alvarado, but they now believe that name to be incorrect.

Lainez has lived at several different locations in Durham including 1707 Avondale Drive, 826 E. Trinity Ave., 5314 Hadrian Drive, and 4609 Tyne Drive. He may have also fled to Conroe, Texas, or San Pedro, Honduras.

Lainez is also wanted for the theft of a white 2000 Mitsubishi Montero Sport with North Carolina license plate BMP3978, and a red and black 2005 Honda CBR 100RR motorcycle with North Carolina license plate 5M9083.

Both vehicles were stolen from 212 Andrews Chapel Road on Dec. 11, 2013. The vehicles have not been located.

Anyone with information about Lainez's whereabouts is asked to call Durham CrimeStoppers at (919) 683-1200 or the Sheriff's Crime Tip Line at (919) 560-7151.
