A temporary warming facility will be available between Tuesday and Wednesday at SafeHouse, located at 1007 Seventh Avenue. The shelter will close Wednesday, January 8 however, at 5:00 p.m.

The following organizations are also opening their door:

Valley Rescue Mission, located at 2903 Second Ave., for men.
Salvation Army, located at 1718 Second Avenue, for men.
Ho sue of Mercy, located at 1532 Third Avenue, for men, women and children.
Trinity House, located at 1007 Seventh Avenue, for women.
Damascus Way, located at 1200 Eleventh Avenue, for women and children.

A homeless man died Tuesday morning after being exposed to the cold, according to the Muscogee County Coroner Buddy Bryan.

The American Red Cross of West Central Georgia is working with the Muscogee County Government and Columbus Emergency Management Agency to provide their shelter for local homeless people adversely affected by the temperatures.
