Moody house fire leaves one man with facial burns Wednesday

Posted: Updated:
MOODY, AL - A man was transported to a hospital, after a house fire in Moody Wednesday morning.

Moody Fire Department Chief Joe Nobles tells Alabama’s 13 News the fire happened at 2:10am CT at 1323 Colgate Road.

When firefighters arrived, they saw smoke and flames coming from the house.

A family, including a child, was inside at the time.

A man was able to run out of the house at first, but then ran back inside to apparently rescue the other family members.

That’s when the man suffered burns to his face.

That man was transported to UAB’s Burn Center, and is expected to recover.

No other injuries were reported.

The house is a total loss.

During the incident, water from fire hoses overfilled a nearby ditch, and the water flowed onto a street, which then froze in the sub-freezing temperatures.

Street crews came by later to spread sand on the street.

An investigation into the cause of the fire is underway.
