Trenton man charged with 2 DWIs in 3 hours

Posted: Updated:
TRENTON, N.C. - A Trenton man is now facing two DWI charges after highway patrol troopers pulled him over twice in a matter of three hours.

It happened Saturday night at 7 p.m. on Highway 58 near Trenton. Trooper Bryant Kirk says he responded to a wreck where the car had run off the road and hit a ditch.

Kirk found 47-year-old Warren Fields with an open beer inside the truck. He says Fields had a blood alcohol content level twice the legal limit. Fields was charged with DWI, reckless driving and having an open container.

Fields’ mother, Calponia Fields, bailed her son out of jail. But within a three-hour span, Kirk says Warren was back on the road, this time with a BAC of .13. The trooper pulled him over again for speeding and charged him with a second DWI.

Kirk says they seized Fields’ car and have charged Calponia with aiding and abetting because there are no 911 records that show she called police to prevent her son from getting behind the wheel again.
