Soldiers abandon their tanks for the kitchen

Posted: Updated:
About 20 soldiers assigned to the 3rd Armored Brigade Combat Team will leave their tanks behind to serve mankind. The soldiers will serve dinner at the Howard Mott Center for Men at the Valley Rescue Mission on Tuesday, January 14 from 2:30 p.m. until 5:30 p.m.

The soldiers also may assist with sorting donated clothing, canned goods and performing yard work. A Fort Benning spokesperson says the soldiers are want to make a positive impact in a community that has supported the Sledgehammer Brigade for many years and ruing many deployments. Volunteering at the shelter was just one of many ways to accomplish that.
