Parks leaving Harris County

Posted: Updated:
HAMILTON, Ga. -

After more than a decade with the program, Tommy Parks is leaving the Harris County High School football sideline.

Parks has accepted the head coaching job at Upson-Lee High School in Thomaston, Ga., where Parks grew up. He has spent the last 12 years with the Harris County program, and 10 as head coach, where he amassed just a 54-54 overall record, but the last two years have been the best in team history.

The Tigers have set the school record for wins in consecutive years with eight in 2012 and nine in 2013. They won a region championship in 2012, advancing to the quarterfinals, and hosted a first-round playoff game in 2013.

Parks will replace Tommy Watson at Upson-Lee, who was 23-38 in six years with one playoff appearance, in 2011.
