CSU's Carr named preseason All-Conference

AUGUSTA, Ga. -

Columbus State junior Kristen Carr has been named to the Peach Belt Conference preseason All-Conference team by conference coaches.

Carr received several honors in 2013. She was named to the Capital One Academic All-District Team, All-PBC First Team, Daktronics All-Southeast Region Second Team and the NFCA All-Southeast Region First Team. Carr had a team-high 38 RBIs and was second on the CSU team for home runs with 12 and doubles with 10.

Additionally, Carr posted a record of 7-2 in 17 appearances from the pitcher's circle. She recorded an ERA of 2.15 and struck out 67 batters.

The Columbus State softball team, which has won two straight PBC Tournament championships and advanced to the NCAA Regionals each of the last two years, begins the 2014 season on Saturday, February 1. The Lady Cougars will host the PBC/Sunshine State Conference Challenge at South Commons Park in Columbus.

    An Amber Alert has been canceled after 2-year old Maliah Harris was found safe in Georgia. Her 7-month-old sibling, Alyssa, was found dead and Maliah disappeared from a Mississippi home which prompted authorities to issue the alert. The girls parents, Donald Boyd Harris,34, and Allison Studdard, 31, are now in custody.
