Cool School: Sherwood Elementary

Posted: Updated:
Principal Jeremy Suchman is very proud of his school. Suchman said, "We love this school and we love the family atmosphere. Every teacher cares about every other student. They just come together."

There are almost five hundred students at the school where teachers say everyone tries hard to succeed. On this day, the students are being rewarded for their hard work. Representatives from Gil's Auto Sales come every nine weeks to give students a dollar for every "A" on their report card. Students were also able to put away their money for a rainy day.

Teacher Gladys Ogletree said, "We are encouraging them to take their monies and deposit them so as they grow older, they will begin to learn how to save."

What else is cool about this school? It's the Sherwood Skippers and the cool stunts that they get to do. The students enjoy traveling for different events and learning the jump roping stunts.

Teacher Jennifer Oliver says that she also likes that the students can go to a bible study group after school. She said, "It's done once a month here at Sherwood. The kids love it. We started off the first week with 45 kids and now we have 90."

The principal says that the teachers, staff, and students at Sherwood Elementary make it a cool school. Suchman said, "This is a fantastic school and you don't hear about us all the time but it is just fantastic. Just come by and see us."
