U.S. Marshals arrest wanted man in Columbus

COLUMBUS, Ga. - Friday, the U.S. Marshals Service (USMS) located and arrested a wanted subject in Columbus Georgia. On January 29, 2014, the U.S. Marshals Middle District of Georgia – Columbus Division received a request for assistance from the United States Marshals Service - Great Lakes Regional Fugitive Task Force – Chicago Office to locate and apprehend fugitive Tremaine Barnes.
 
Barnes was wanted by the Chicago Police Department for murder, which occurred on or about January 20, 2014. Despite the adverse weather, U.S. Marshals continued to work this fugitive investigation. At approximately 9:30am Friday morning, U.S. Marshals and the Columbus Police Department fugitive unit proceeded to the 400 block of Columbia Street in Columbus, located and arrested Barnes without incident. Barnes was transported to the Muscogee County Jail where he will remain until extradited back to Illinois.
